Lawrence “Buddy” Martin and his wife, Betty, founded Christian Challenge in 1976 as a stewardship from the Lord.
Over the last fifty years, hundreds of disciples have been trained under the banner of Christian Challenge.
Their oldest son, Nathan Martin, was the first missionary, and he helped to establish a number of churches in Mexico, many of which were among indigenous people.
Nathan is now the pastor of Christian Challenge, while Buddy is the general overseer.

DOCTRINAL POSITION - My spiritual roots are Pentecostal, but my heart is simply to live as an evangelical Christian—committed to Jesus Christ, the authority of Scripture, and the present-day work of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life. Over more than sixty years of study and ministry, the Lord has especially drawn me to the Hebraic foundations of our faith, helping me to understand the Bible in its original context. I have no desire to criticize or attack any Christian group, and I am not anti-Trinitarian, anti-Oneness, or anti-anyone. My aim is simple: to exalt Christ, honor the Word of God, and encourage believers to walk in truth, humility, and love.
