Its design is primarily for those who have a deeper interest in ancient Judaism and how Jesus Christ has been seen by the Jews since ancient time. For you who do have this interest, you will be greatly blessed with what I have to share. My forte of study and research for the past 45+ years has been on the Hebraics of the Christian faith. I believe in a short time there will be a great turning in the nation of Israel to Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the following study each item of interest is numbered. N. K. (pronounced <\/span><\/span><strong><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Tanach<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">) is an acronym for <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Tora <\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201claw,\u201d <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Nevim <\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cThe prophets,\u201d and <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Ketuvim<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> \u201cthe writings.\u201d These are\u00a0the three divisions into which Jews divide the Old Testament.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">2) \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Modern Judaism generally sets forth Christianity as a Gentile religion. They say it is alright for Gentiles to accept Jesus as Messiah, but for Jews it would be idolatry. Judaism does not necessarily condemn the doctrine of the trinity as idolatry as long as those holding the belief are not Jews. That Jesus and the apostles were all sabras, that is, <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">native born Israelis,<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> has been a well kept secret from the Jews. In spite of this the modern Israelis are rediscovering Jesus. [<\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Yeshua <\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">is His Hebrew name.]<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">3) \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ancient Judaism once taught that a suffering Messiah would appear, disappear for a time, and would then reappear. The disappearing Messiah was known as Messiah ben Joseph. He would suffer as Joseph did when sold as a slave in Egypt. Messiah ben Joseph would die and be resurrected. His return would then be as Messiah ben David. When Jesus was rejected by the rulers of Israel this ancient Judaic teaching became shrouded to the Jews. Few Jews realize that Judaism today is far removed from what ancient Judaism taught. What evangelical Christianity teaches concerning the Messiah fulfills the ancient sages.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">4) \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The famed rabbi of the twelth century known as Rambam\/Maimonides, once said: <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201c\u2026one should\u2026not expatiate about the <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">midrashim\u2026\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">The midrashim are ancient Jewish commentaries on the Bible, which in many cases authenticate the Christian belief that Jesus is the Messiah.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">5) \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Commentary Midrash Ruth Rabba clearly illustrates two comings of Messiah: <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cR. Berekhia in the name of R. Levi: &#8216;The Last Redeemer [Messiah] will be like the First Redeemer [Moses]. Just as the First Redeemer was revealed and then again was hidden from the children of Israel\u2026so the Last Redeemer will be revealed to them and then will be hidden from them\u2026\u2019\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/buddymartin.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Messiah.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4489\" title=\"Messiah\" src=\"http:\/\/buddymartin.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Messiah.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"224\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">6) \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Jewish Talmud speaks of Him [Messiah] coming on <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201ca donkey\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> (Zech. 9:9) and <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201ccoming on the clouds of heaven\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> (Dan. 7:13), in its Sanhedrin 98a section. \u201c<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">R. Alexandri said: \u2018R. Y\u2019hoshu\u2019a ben Levi explained:\u2026\u2019If they will be righteous, [the Messiah will come]<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> on the clouds on heaven<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> (Daniel 7:13); if they will not be righteous, [he will come] as <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">a poor man riding upon an ass<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> (Zech 9:9).\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">7) \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Biblical Archaeology Review, December 1992 &#8211; Hebrew scholars Michael Wise and James Tabor state: <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cOur Qumran text, 4Q521, is astonishingly, quite close to this Christian concept of Messiah. Our text speaks not only of a single messianic figure\u2026but it also describes him in extremely exalted terms, quite like the Christian view of Jesus as a cosmic agent.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/buddymartin.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/scrolls.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4492\" title=\"scrolls\" src=\"http:\/\/buddymartin.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/scrolls.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"237\" height=\"315\" \/><\/a>They further say, <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201c\u2026The Messiah of our text is thus much closer to the Christian Messiah, in this regard, than in any previously published text and requires us to reexamine the previously, rather restricted, views of messianic expectations at Qumran.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Again they say, <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201c\u2026there was the belief among the Qumran community that the Messiah would suffer initial defeat, but that he would ultimately triumph at the end of days.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">[The Qumran community reflects accepted messianic beliefs in ancient Judaism at the time of Jesus.]<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">8 ) \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Archaeological Discovery &#8211; The newly released Dead Sea Scroll fragment 4Q246, gives indisputable proof that the idea of the Son of God is an authentic ancient Jewish belief. In this \u2018Son of God\u2019 fragment it says, <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201che shall be called the Son of the God; they will call him the Son of the Most High\u2026He will judge the earth in righteousness\u2026and every nation will bow down to him\u2026with (God\u2019s) help he will make war, and\u2026[God] will give all the peoples into his power.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">(This is important since post 70 a. d. Judaism absolutely denies any room for a Messianic Son of God. It is also important because the Dead Sea discoveries are revealing a belief system very near Christian.)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">9) <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> \u201cIn the future God will seat the King Messiah at his right, for it is said: \u2018The Lord said unto my Lord, \u2018Sit thou at my right hand,\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> Midrash on Psalm SVIII, 35 &#8211; Ancient Rabbinical Commentary.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">10) <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cI have examined and searched all the Holy Scriptures, and have not found the time for the coming of MESSIAH, clearly fixed, except in the words of Gabriel to the prophet Daniel, which are written in the ninth chapter of the prophecy of Daniel.\u201d <\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Rabbi Moses Abraham Levi<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">11) <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cBehold, My Servant, the Messiah, whom I bring near, My chosen one, in whom My Memra [Word] takes delight; I will place my holy spirit upon him, and he shall reveal My law to the nations.\u201d <\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Targum Jonathan<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/buddymartin.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Messiah1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4494\" title=\"Messiah\" src=\"http:\/\/buddymartin.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Messiah1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a>12) \u00a0 <em>\u201cBehold, my servant, the Messiah shall prosper; he shall be exalted, etc. \u2018Behold my servant shall deal prudently.\u2019 This is King Messiah. \u2018He shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.\u2019 He shall be exalted more than Abraham; for of Him it is written, \u2018I have exalted my hand to the Lord\u2019 <\/em>(Gen. XIC.22). <em>He shall be extolled more than Moses\u2026<\/em>(Num. XI 12)\u00a0 &#8211; Targum<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">13) <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cCome and see the mystery of the word YHVH: there are three steps, each existing by itself: nevertheless they are One, and so united that one cannot be separated from the other. The Ancient One is revealed with three heads, which are united into one, and that head is three exalted. The Ancient One is described as being three: because the other lights emanating from him are included in the three. But how can three names be one? Are they really one because we call them one? How three can be one can only be known through the revelation of the Holy Spirit.\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> Zohar<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">14) <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cIn the week when the Son of David comes, they will bring beams of iron and put them like a yoke on his neck until His stature is bent down. He cries and weeps, and his voice ascends to heaven, and in God\u2019s presence He will say: \u2018Sovereign of the world, how long will my strength last, how long my breath, my soul, and my limbs? Am I not flesh and blood?\u2019\u2026Then the Holy One\u2014blessed be He!\u2014says to Him: \u2018Ephraim, my righteous Messiah, you took all this upon yourself from the six days of creation\u2026\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> Pesiqta Rabbati, Friedmann\u2019s edition, chapter 36<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/buddymartin.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/thecross.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4495\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" title=\"thecross\" src=\"http:\/\/buddymartin.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/thecross.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"166\" height=\"221\" \/><\/a>15) <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cThe Patriarchs will one day rise again in the month of Nisan and will say to the Messiah\u2026You have been a laughing-stock and a derision among the peoples of the world, and because of you they jeered at Israel, as it is written (Psalm 22:6). You have dwelt in darkness and in gloominess, and your eyes have not seen light, your skin was cleaving to your bones, and your body withered like wood. Your eyes became hollow from fasting, and your strength was dried up like a potsherd, as its is written (Psalm 22:15,16). All this happened because of the sins of our children, as it is written: \u2018And Jehovah laid on him the iniquity of us all\u2019 (Isaiah 53:6).\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> Pesiqta Rabbati<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">16) \u00a0 David Flusser an orthodox Jewish professor at Hebrew University in Jerusalem writes concerning the New Testament: <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cEarly Christian literature thus reflects the world of the Sages at an earlier stage than its reflection in the Jewish sources. It reflects Jewish life in the Hellenistic diaspora, details of which we otherwise know chiefly from the writings of Philo of Alexandria\u2026.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">&#8220;Take an example: The Jewish custom of giving a boy his name during his circumcision ceremony is not known in our Talmudic literature, but in one of the Gospels (Luke 1:59-64) we are told that John the Baptist\u2019s father gave him his name during this ceremony. <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">&#8220;Or another example: the custom of passing around the glass of wine during the Kiddush (the blessing on the wine ushering in Sabbath and Holy Day Meals) is unknown in Talmudic sources, but the New Testament tells us that during the Last Supper Jesus asked that his cup should be passed among his Apostles (Luke 22:17 and parallel passages).\u201d <\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u2014<em> <\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">Jewish Sources in Early Christianity.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">17) \u00a0 Learned Jews are startled by a Jewish Commentary that mentions a <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201ccross on his shoulders\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> in Isaac\u2019s ancient ordeal: <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201c\u2026and Abraham took the wood and he put it on his son as a person who carries a cross on his shoulders.\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> Midrash Shimoni\u2019s commentary (Saloniki edition)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">18) <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cWhen the time of the advent of Messiah will be near, then the blessed God will say to him: With him I will make a new covenant. And this is the time when he will acknowledge him as his son, saying \u2018This day have I begotten three.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> Midrash Tehelim<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">19) <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cOur Rabbis taught, The Holy One, blessed be He, will say to the Messiah, the son of David (May he reveal himself speedily in our days!), \u2018Ask of me anything, and I will give it to thee\u2019, as it is said, <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">I will tell of the decree<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> etc. <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">this day have I begotten thee, ask of me and I will give the nations for thy inheritance. <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">(Ps. II, 7,8). <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">&#8220;But when he will see that the Messiah the Son of Joseph is slain, he will say to Him, \u2018Lord of the Universe, I ask of Thee only the gift of life\u2019. \u2018As to life\u2019, He would answer him, \u2018Your father David has already prophesied this concerning you\u2019, as it is said, <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">He asked life of thee, thou gavest it him even length of days for ever and ever<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">]. (Ps. XXI, 5.)\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">20) \u00a0 Pinchas Lipide, a highly respected scholar in the Jewish religious community, wrote a book supporting the resurrection of Jesus, though he himself does not accept Jesus as Messiah and does not follow other Christian claims. In his book, <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">The Resurrection of Jesus, A Jewish Perspective, <\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\">he states: <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201c\u2026according to my opinion, the resurrection belongs to the category of the truly real and effective occurrences\u2026a fact of history\u2026\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/buddymartin.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Christ.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4498\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" title=\"Christ\" src=\"http:\/\/buddymartin.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Christ.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"196\" height=\"157\" \/><\/a>21) \u00a0 Dr. Kac notes of Professor Pinchas Lapide: <\/span><em><span style=\"color: #003300;\">\u201cAccording to Lapide a \u2018Jesus wave\u2019 is now passing through Judaism. In proof of this he states that in the first twenty-seven years following the reconstitution of the present State of Israel 187 Hebrew books, research articles, poem, dissertations and essays have been written about Jesus. More has been written in Hebrew about Jesus in the last twenty-five years than in all the eighteen previous centuries.\u201d<\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #003300;\"> Arthur W. Both the Book and the Land have become sanctified to the world and this was not the work of the Diaspora Jews who, in spite of the injunction, did not become \u2018a light to the Gentiles,\u2019 but was the work rather of a single Jew and his band of Jewish followers, all of them Sabras.
