J<\/span>ournal,<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

One pastor asked if any of us had read the book,\u00a0‘The Christian Atheist.’<\/em> I thought,\u00a0‘Why would I want to read a book that contradicts what being a Christian is about?” <\/em>(Something along those lines.)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then when the brother shared the rest of the title, it did aroused\u00a0my curiosity. The full title of the book is, <\/span>‘The Christian Atheist: Believing in God but living as if He doesn’t Exist’<\/span><\/em>, by Craig Groeschel.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The title made more sense when you consider those who ascribe to the name Christian, yet <\/span>their lives seem to reflect the world. I’ve<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span> often wondered what kind of believer these people really are<\/span><\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>Then<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em> I have to remember what Jesus said about not judging according to appearance but to judge with righteous judgment. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Fact of the matter is that we know so little about other believers. <\/span><\/span>Who knows where they are in their walk with the Lord, or what God is doing in their lives. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

How about you? Are you the kind of believer who reflects the values of the world? Or are you that believer who longs to take as your creed of life what the unknown author wrote, titled, <\/span><\/span>‘The Fellowship of the Unashamed.’<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Take time to read what the following anonymous believer wrote. In doing so perhaps you could supplement it with this prayer, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>‘Dear Lord, with your help and by your grace it is my deepest desire to make this statement the creed of my life. Help me to hold fast to all that represents You and Your kingdom. In Jesus name. Amen’<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

Here is what I might call, ‘the creed of the disciple’.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

I am part of the Fellowship of the Unashamed. I have the Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The decision has been made\u2014I am a disciple of His. I won\u2019t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

My past is <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I\u2019m finished and done with low living, sight walking, smooth knees,<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Colorless dreams, tame visions, worldly-talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don\u2019t have to be right, first, tops,<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean in His presence, walk by patience, am uplifted by prayer and I <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>labor with power.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>my companions are few, my Guide is <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>reliable, <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

My mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, hired away, turned back, diluted, or delayed. <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

I will not <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, pander at the <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>pool of <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.<\/span>\"\"<\/a>
\n<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

I won\u2019t give up, shut up, let up, until I have preached up, prayed up, paid up, stored up and stayed up for the cause of Christ.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

I am a disciple of Jesus, I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till all know and work till He stops me. And when He comes<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

To claim His own, He\u2019ll have no problems recognizing me. My banner will be clear!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Four challenges to consider…<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1. The axis of TRUTH<\/strong><\/em><\/span> \u2013 Don\u2019t become doctrinally rigid in anything that pertains to the walk of truth. Leave room for spiritual growth. <\/span><\/span>Absolute truth is often found in the tension of two truths that even seem pull against one another. Always ask the Lord for a better understanding of all that He would have you to understand. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cFor if you cry for discernment, lift your voice for understanding; if you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.\u201c<\/em> (Pro 2:3-6 NASB)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>2.<\/span> <\/span>The matter of LOVE<\/strong><\/em><\/span> \u2013 Jesus said that a disciple\u2019s walk has to have a dual love focus. The focus is lateral, love God, and, horizontal, love others. John said that it is impossible to love God without loving others. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

“\u2019Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?\u2019 And He said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as your<\/em>self. On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” (Mat 22:36-40 NASB)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/span> S<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span>i<\/strong><\/em><\/span>ngleness of PURPOSE<\/strong><\/em><\/span> \u2013 God wants us to serve Him with an undivided heart. Whatever things compete with God in our lives are things that attempt to divide our heart. Having singleness of heart and vision speak of a complete loyalty to Jesus Christ in all things. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

“<\/em><\/span><\/span>Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name. I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And will glorify Your name forever.” <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span>(Psa 86:11-12 NASB)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4. The issue of TREASURES<\/strong><\/em><\/span> \u2013 Our heart is always connected to our treasures. <\/span>What we make time for, what we spend our money on, and what we see as priorities in life will always reflect the status of our heart far more than our words ever will do. (Mat 6:19-21)<\/span><\/p>\n

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and\"\"<\/a> where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.\u201d <\/em>(Mat 6:19-21 NASB)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
