R<\/span><\/span>eaders,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve had much interest on a journal entry that I provided in July, 2010, entitled, ‘The Voice of the Blood.’<\/span> This entry is based on that earlier entry but with a few allowable\u00a0differences. The most important thing to understand about God’s work of salvation involves the blood of Jesus. The old-time song says it well enough — <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"What can take away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Let’s begin with King Messiah<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

David often spoke of the Lord as his God and as his King. And because David had prophetic visions of Jesus and personal encounters with the Lord, he could speak of Jesus the Messiah <\/span><\/span>long before He walked among us.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Consider a few statements from David:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, for His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!”<\/em> (Psa 2:12 NASB)<\/span> <\/span>— This Psalm is quoted from by the apostles in Acts 4, about Jesus as the anointed King.<\/span> It has to do with both the first and the second coming of the Lord. <\/span>The day of Pentecost was the coronation day of Jesus. The kingdom of God today is noted as‘the kingdom of God’s beloved Son.’<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span>Cf. Col1:13 — At the end of the age of redemption the Lord hands over the kingdom to His Father. Cf. 1Co15:22-25.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/div>\n
“The LORD says to my Lord: ‘Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.’ The LORD will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying, ‘Rule in the midst of Your enemies.'”<\/em> (Psa 110:1-2 NASB) <\/span><\/span> — Quoted by Jesus and by Peter with a view to Jesus being exalted to the right hand of the Father. This is the most quoted part of Psalms to be found in the New Testament.<\/span>—<\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/div>\n
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy above Your fellows.” <\/em>(Psa 45:6-7 NASB)<\/span><\/span> <\/span>— Quoted in the book of Hebrews with regard to the exaltation of Jesus.<\/span> —<\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/div>\n
“Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O gates, and lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in! Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah.”<\/em> <\/span><\/span><\/span>(Psa 24:8-10 NASB) <\/span><\/span>— With a view to the second coming of Jesus as the King of glory<\/span> —<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>A King is exactly who Jesus is<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While we readily acknowledge Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we must always keep before us that He is a King and has a kingdom. A King is exactly what Jesus is. And in order\u00a0for a king to rule, he must have a kingdom.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The term kingdom (basileia<\/span>) in Greek speaks of sovereignty, or\u00a0power. In an abstract sense it refers to the power exercised by\u00a0a king. So the kingdom of God refers to God’s direct ruling power. The kingdom of God is a kingdom of great power.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Now we turn to Jesus. Follow carefully the conversation between Pilate and Jesus. In questioning Jesus, Pilate becomes frustrated. His wife had a dream about Jesus and warned Pilate not to do Him any harm. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Pilate\u00a0says,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Are you the King of the Jews?”<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Some think that Pilate asked\u00a0this in jest. I don’t believe this is the case. Pilate is too disturbed to be joking around.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Lord responds,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Are you saying this on your own initiative, or\u00a0did others tell you about Me?”<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Pilate is confused. He responds,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief\u00a0priests delivered You to me; what have You done?”<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It is here that Jesus begins to explain His kingdom. Listen carefully;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

My\u00a0kingdom is not of this world. <\/span>[It’s not simply a Jewish kingdom.]<\/span> <\/span>If My kingdom were of this world, then\u00a0My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over\u00a0to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.”<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Jesus said that His kingdom is not of this world<\/em> or of this realm<\/em>. World [kosmos<\/span>] speaks of a worldly order. Realm [<\/span><\/span><\/span>enteuthen<\/span>] has to do with ‘from\u00a0a place’. Jesus says His kingdom is not an arrangement or an\u00a0adornment to be seen with the eyes. It is not from ‘this place.’ It is neither a worldly kingdom nor a Jewish kingdom.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Pilate responds,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So You are a king?”<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What Jesus says next puts His kingdom rule into its spiritual\u00a0essence.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You say correctly that I am a king. <\/span>For this I have been born<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em>, and for this I have come into the world,<\/span><\/span> to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”<\/span><\/em> (Cf. <\/span><\/span><\/span>John 18:33-37<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>)<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n


\n<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A kingdom not of this world<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Now we come to the crux of the matter. If the kingdom of Jesus Christ is not\u00a0of this world,\"\"<\/a> then His subjects must not be of this world. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Lord points out that only <\/strong><\/em>His subjects are able to hear His\u00a0voice. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And the Lord says His kingdom is all about truth.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Now we have all the elements that describe the Lord’s kingdom.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(1) His kingdom is not of this world.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(2) His subjects are not of this world.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(3) Only His subjects hear His voice.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(4) His subjects do not fight. (Not in the sense of worldly kingdoms. Their weaponry is not of the flesh.)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(5) His kingdom is about Truth.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What does this tell us up front? It tells us that the kingdom of Jesus Christ cannot be put in religious terms. Religion is what man does. Relationship and reality is what God does for us in Christ.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Hence the dilemma — <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If His kingdom is not of this world, and His\u00a0subjects are not of this world, and only His subjects can hear His\u00a0voice, and His kingdom is about Truth, and His subjects do not\u00a0fight, how can we ever expect to recognize His kingdom? How can\u00a0anyone find it? How can anyone enter into it?<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Recognizing the kingdom<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Every born again person knows the answer to this or they would not be born again. The only way to enter\u00a0into what Paul calls ‘the kingdom of His Beloved Son,’<\/em> is to have a personal invitation from the King. And the only way to be born again is to take to yourself Jesus Christ as your own Lord and Savior and King.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Thus we have the gospel message. Many people are not aware of just how powerful the gospel really is. The gospel is an official message from God’s heavenly kingdom and in the gospel is a personal invitation from the King to His kingdom. The gospel carries in it the voice of the King.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve been a gospel minister since age 24. I’m now 70. The most wonderful thing that I’ve experienced in my life as a minister of the gospel is to see people actually brought into the kingdom of the beloved Son of God. \u00a0In my many years I seen untold numbers brought into the kingdom that is not of this world.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Here is just one incident that has been forever etched in my memory.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

I Have a Message from the King<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We were on our way to a village in Honduras near the border of Guatemala. As we were nearing the village, I asked the Lord what He wanted me especially say to the people. He placed on my heart to begin my message by saying, ‘I come to you as an ambassador of the kingdom of God, and I have a message for you from the King.’ <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“That was the first thing that came out of my mouth. A total stillness settled over the crowded building. I began sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Then it \u00a0happened – An old Indian stood up and began to make his way towards me. Once again I stood amazed at the power of the gospel. The old Indian heard the voice of the King. He was making his way to accept God’s invitation to enter the kingdom of His beloved Son. He was ready to give his heart to Jesus. <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

B<\/span><\/span>ut what actually happened to the old Indian? This brings me to the story of the blood and the only thing that can take away our sins. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The blood of the King<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To enter into the kingdom of the beloved Son, you must have an invitation. This is the job of the servant of God and of the Holy Spirit. The invitation is sent through God’s servants in the gospel message. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus said,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And He [the Holy Spirit], when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.”<\/span><\/em><\/span>(Joh 16:8 NASB)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The gospel message is about the blood. The gospel is God’s invitation to turn from the kingdom of darkness and to the kingdom of His beloved Son. In this turning the blood of Jesus is sprinkled on the sinner’s heart. And in this turning comes the believers transfer out of darkness into the Lord’s kingdom.
\n<\/span><\/span>The blood speaks to the throne of God. First, as a person turns from their former master Satan, and thus receives Jesus Christ as Lord, and Savior, and King, something marvelous takes place in their heart.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>Listen very carefully to Peter:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n
“…according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey\"\" Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood<\/strong><\/span>:<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n
“May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again<\/span><\/strong> to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n
“… to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”<\/span><\/em><\/span>(1Pe 1:2-5 NASB)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

Every statement that Peter makes is without measure. <\/span><\/span>What does the blood of the King speak over us? It speaks mercy a<\/span>nd grace. You may be concerned with the idea of the blood of Jesus speaking. Listen:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, <\/span>and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.”<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span>(Heb 12:22-24 NASB)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Abel’s blood cried our for vengeance against his brother Cain. The blood of Jesus speaks from the finished work of the cross. It speaks of mercy and truth and grace and forgiveness and love and acceptance. The blood speaks of joy that is beyond expression and full of glory.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span>\"\"<\/span><\/span>This is why we sing,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n
‘What can take away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.’<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
An invitation of life.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/div>\n

The world has a standing invitation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

John says,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He came to His own, and those who were His own did\u00a0not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave\u00a0the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in\u00a0His name.”<\/em> (<\/span><\/span>John 1:11,12<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>)<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It is important to understand what John means by believing. Our salvation is not based on some emotional work up. It is based on an open declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. Believing in the Bible has to do with the heart. It is an outflow of the deepest of our heart.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Greek word for believe [pisteuo]<\/span> means to put faith in a person, to\u00a0rely on, to trust in, to adhere to. (It is the Greek word that we get our English word ‘glue’.) To believe in His name means to accept who Jesus really is, that is, to believe in the full message of\u00a0the gospel, and in His authority. We actually believe out of darkness and into life.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/p>\n

What about the truth part and the voice part? <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Well, I’ve covered this a bit. The gospel is a message from heaven. It carries all the authority and power that is\u00a0needed to cause a person to be born again. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he word ‘truth’ in Greek, speaks of the reality that is behind an appearance. To realize truth is to become fully aware of the\u00a0Person and Presence of Jesus Christ. It is a heavenly reality. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

W<\/span>hen a person is born from above, that birth brings a new\u00a0spiritual reality into their life. The realness does not go away. It will\u00a0be there from today, to the next today, to the next today, and forever. Out salvation is eternal.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

His voice also speaks of the Lord’s Kingly ministry. The\u00a0issue of Jesus being our King is very real to a believer. And\u00a0hearing His voice is also very real. Jesus explained it this way;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also,\u00a0and they will hear My voice<\/span><\/strong><\/em>; and they will become one flock with\u00a0one shepherd.”<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And again,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

My sheep hear My voice<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em>, and I know them, and they\u00a0follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never\u00a0perish<\/span><\/strong><\/em>; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” (Cf. <\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span>John 10<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/a>)<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
